TEAM ENKI — KEEP THE HUMANS

For those who know which side of the flood story they’re on.

There are easier ways to make an alien shirt. This isn’t one of them.

The Team Enki — Keep the Humans Tee reaches back to one of humanity’s oldest surviving stories: a world of divine politics, catastrophic flooding, ancient wisdom, and one god who apparently thought the humans were worth keeping around.

In Mesopotamian tradition, Enki — later known as Ea — was associated with wisdom, magic, craftsmanship, creation, and the Abzu, the subterranean freshwater deep believed to nourish the living world.

Then comes Atrahasis.

Humanity has become a problem. Enlil wants drastic measures. Enki disagrees with the proposed solution and quietly gets a warning to Atrahasis. A boat gets built. Life continues.

Thousands of years later, we have condensed this complicated theological dispute into considerably simpler language:

TEAM ENKI. KEEP THE HUMANS.

THE CREST

The artwork was built for people who are going to look twice.

Enki himself remains human in form, crowned with the horned headdress used in ancient Mesopotamian art to signify divinity. The water surrounding him points back to the Abzu, while fish moving through the streams reference one of the most recognizable visual details associated with depictions of Enki/Ea.

Beneath him sits the goat-fish, one of Enki’s historical symbols. That placement is intentional. The god and the emblem remain separate rather than being collapsed into one fantasy creature.

The pouring vessels continue the water symbolism. The surrounding plant forms suggest the fertility and life that follow freshwater into the landscape. The crescent belongs to the broader celestial vocabulary of Mesopotamian art rather than being presented as Enki’s personal symbol.

The circular frame is ours: a modern seal built around much older references.

And yes, somebody is going to count the waves.

Their number is compositional.

Sometimes a wave is just a wave.

THE LITTLE EASTER EGG

A lot of modern “ancient” artwork blends mythology, later interpretations, zodiac imagery, and internet lore into one big aesthetic soup.

We didn’t want to do that here.

The god is the god. The goat-fish is his symbol. The water belongs to the Abzu. The fish belong inside the water.

From across the room, it’s simply an ornate, slightly mysterious crest. Someone who actually knows the material gets more out of it.

That’s the whole point.

THE SHIRT

The shirt itself has the same lived-in quality as the artwork. It’s made from 100% preshrunk, combed, ring-spun cotton, giving it a soft, durable feel without becoming thin or flimsy.

At 5.3 oz / 180 g/m², the fabric is medium weight: substantial enough to hold the print cleanly, comfortable enough for everyday wear.

The regular fit keeps things easy rather than oversized. Side seams help maintain the silhouette, while shoulder tape and a ribbed collar reinforce the areas that tend to stretch first. The preshrunk construction helps minimize changes after washing.

The result feels less like a disposable novelty tee and more like something you found in the back of an extremely specific bookstore and somehow kept for twenty years.

Wear it with coffee and a three-hour podcast queued up. Wear it while somebody accidentally asks what the Anunnaki are. Wear it somewhere there is a statistically unreasonable chance another person has read Atrahasis.

Or just wear it because it looks good.

Knowing the rest is the Easter egg.

CARE
